The experimental short film is about Ciwan, a Syrian Kurd, and his imagined encounter with the name on his fake Sicilian passport—Alberto Santos—that afforded him passage to Germany after eleven failed attempts.
The film reconstructs Ciwan's journey from Athens—via Brussels—to Berlin, bringing us back to the places he lived, ate, and frequented. Along the way, it confronts the realities of the filmmaking process, and critiques our methods of narrative construction with humor and candor. Alberto is a meditation on the imagination of power, and the power of imagination.
